چکیده

We present the results of our survey toward the proto–planetary nebula CRL 618 for several large, highly saturated, oxygen-bearing organic molecules of biological importance including acetaldehyde (CH3CHO), acetic acid (CH3COOH), dimethyl ether (CH3OCH3), ethanol (CH3CH2OH), formic acid (HCOOH) and methyl formate (HCOOCH3); large carbon chain molecules including methyl cyanide (CH3CN), methylcyanoacetylene (CH3C3N), cyanoacetylene (HC3N), cyanodiacetylene (HC5N), and C6H; and, finally, smaller molecules including SO, SO2, OCS, and MgNC. No biologically important organic molecules were detected. However, we report the first interferometric detections of CH3CN and vibrationally excited HC3N and HC5N toward this source. The temperature and distribution of CH3CN toward CRL 618 indicates that it is formed in the outer envelope surrounding the ultracompact H ii region. Furthermore, the P Cygni line profile and corresponding channel maps of vibrationally excited HC5N support its distribution in the extended envelope expanding radially from the central star. The detection of vibrationally excited HC3N confirmed the temperature structure and column density of HC3N in the inner envelope found byWyrowski and colleagues. Finally, our observations clearly indicate that CRL 618 is a good source of large carbon chain species but a very poor source for detecting or producing organic species of biological importance. Chemical Evolution of the Circumstellar Envelopes of Carbon-rich Post-agb Objects

We have observed with the 30-m IRAM telescope, the CSO telescope and the ISO satellite (Infrared Space Observatory) the rotational lines of CO at millimeter, submillimeter and far infrared wavelengths in the direction of C-rich stellar objects at different stages of evolution : CRL 2688 (a very young Proto-Planetary Nebula), CRL 618 (a Proto-Planetary Nebula), and NGC 7027 (a young Planetary Ne...

Detection of HCN Direct l - Type Transitions Probing Hot Molecular Gas in the Proto - Planetary Nebula CRL 618

We report the detection of direct ℓ-type transitions towards the proto-planetary nebula CRL 618 during a study of vibrationally excited carbon chains. ∆J = 0 transitions of HCN in its first excited bending mode v 2 = 1 were detected in absorption against the continuum of the central H ii region making use of the Effelsberg 100 m telescope and the Very Large Array. Additionally, the J = 9 direct...

O-bearing Molecules in Carbon-rich Proto-Planetary Objects.

We present Infrared Space Observatory long-wavelength spectrometer observations of the proto-planetary nebula CRL 618, a star evolving very fast toward the planetary nebula stage. In addition to the lines of 12CO, 13CO, HCN, and HNC, we report on the detection of H2O and OH emission together with the fine-structure lines of [O i] at 63 and 145 µm. The abundance of the latter three species relat...

Physical conditions in the Protoplanetary Nebula CRL 618 derived from observations of vibrationally excited HC 3

We used the Effelsberg 100 m and IRAM 30 m telescopes to observe vibra-tionally excited cyanoacetylene (HC 3 N) in several rotational transitions toward the proto-planetary nebula CRL 618. Lines from 9 different vibrationally excited states with energies ranging up to 1600 K above ground were detected. The lines show P Cygni profiles indicating that the HC 3 N emission originates from an expand...

Precise dipole moment and quadrupole coupling constants of benzonitrile

Cyanobenzenes have recently been suggested as good candidates for the detection of aromatic molecules in interstellar space [1–3], partly due to their large dipole moments. The simplest molecule from this class is benzonitrile (C6H5CN), which might be detectable, for example, in the proto-planetary nebula CRL 618 [1, 2]. These predictions are based on an assumed abundance of 10 and a dipole mom...
